For Once, the World Trade Centre was located in Sirnach
While in the rest of the world everything was revolving around the most important triviality, soccer, the export industry was boosted in Sirnach.

STS Global Agent Conference 2010 - stssensors.com In mid-June, STS did not only invite all representatives of its subsidiaries in Italy, Germany and France to its headquarters for the purpose of further education and the exchange of information. No, from Thursday to Sunday, 40 distributors and employ-ees from over 25 nations stayed in Sirnach.
The objective of the three-day Global Agent Conference was the exchange of inter-national market knowledge in the area of sensors and sensor technology. Day 1 was marked by information of the company STS. Apart from the very popular marketplace on which products were not only presented but could also be tested on site, in the afternoon, a guided tour of the company took place and one was allowed a brief look at the latest developments. After a short refreshment break, the event continued with an intercultural dinner.

Friday was marked by international market analyses. In smaller groups, distributors had the possibility to advance wishes with regard to future products and development directions. Market behaviours in different countries were compared, analysed, and participants attempted to identify trends.

After these two very interesting days that were appreciated by both all participants and the organiser, on Saturday, social aspects occupied centre stage. Already early in the morning – it was actually quite chilly, 10 degrees prevailed - one went towards Appenzell and after the visit of the historic market, the journey continued in the direction of Säntis. Although it was summer already, after having reached the mountain peak, guests of STS could warm up again by engaging in a snowball fight. Participants definitely lost their breath when playing the alphorn afterwards. However, after having enjoyed a cosy dinner in soothing warmth, everyone was in a very good mood when setting out for home.

WATERMANAGER SOLUTION: Transmission of Water Level- and Temperature-Data via GSM/GPRS, Radio, or Internet
STS’ newly developed watermanager solution allows for conveniently managing and reading data loggers from any location at any time. In case of an out-of-limits condition, a warning message is generated and transmitted automatically via SMS and e-mail. In this way, a maximum degree of flexibility and cost efficiency is attained with regard to the monitoring of water levels and temperatures of rivers, lakes, ground water, sources, and boreholes.

The measuring hardware for GSM/GPRS and radio may be easily installed in a 2"-tube or 4"-tube and it consists of 3 elements:

o A highly accurate pressure and temperature sensor with stainless steel or titan casing exhibiting a 0.1% accuracy of the end-scale value as regards pressure/water level and a 0,3°C accuracy with regard to temperature. The temperature of the medium may range from -5 to 80 °C.

o A data logger which is able to reliably store up to 250.000 values, monitor its operating conditions and which may be detailedly configured by the user. Measurement intervals may be set at 2s to 12h. Battery lifespan hinges on the measurement and transmission interval as well as on battery choice (lithium or alkali).

o Communication via GSM/GPRS and radio (433 MHz) for reading data and configuring the system.

The WEB watermanager software offers a clear overview of all data loggers. It enables the configuration and monitoring of measuring data. Data may be downloaded directly into the customised analysis software or an Excel spreadsheet.
